Engagement Photography – Pasadena to Burbank

Jessica and Miguel went from downtown Pasadena, to abandoned train tracks to our favorite field. I had been wanting to photograph at these abandon train tracks ever since I found this vintage stop sign at a garage sale for 5 bucks! Only after I bought it did someone tell me it might be considered vintage because its been awhile since reflectors on stop signs are real. Nowadays it’s just reflective tape, but these are real buttons! Maybe I will get rich!

Had a great time with these guys and can’t wait for the wedding day! They are getting married at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles. I am so excited Jessica is going to allow some extra time to get some fun bridal party shots before the wedding and of course the awesomest bride and groom photos.

Yes, awesomest counts as a real word on my blog. :)

We started in the alley’s of downtown Pasadena to capture that urban feel. We also stopped by the restaurant of their first date in Pasadena! Grabbed a few pictures in front of Louise’s Trattoria and then headed off to Burbank for some field action.

Engagement Photography – Santa Monica Pier

We went down to Venice for these engagement photos. Started off walking by the shops on Abbott Kinney in Venice, fell in love with a vintage store front – good thing they were closed! – and mixed it up with alley shots before heading down to the water in Santa Monica to do a little beach photography. We had a great time and got to use one of my new props! Check out the cool vintage suitcase I found at the goodwill. I didn’t even know Enrique was going to wear red, it worked out perfectly! To top it all off, Enrique brought his Hassleblad, so we had fun shooting him while he was taking some black and white images of Amy. Enrique’s background is in film and photography so we are super honored to photograph their big day! Their wedding will be at an estate home in Brentwood. A beautiful and tranquil spot in the hills with a twilight reception.

It got a little cold towards the end, especially down by the Santa Monica Pier, the wind off the ocean gets a little chilly. But Amy worked it the whole time – even walking in the sand with heels to get down under the pier. It looks like it was worth it, check them out – total hotness!

Engagement Photography – Griffith Park

It might have all been cancelled due to rain. But Bob and Christina were ready to take a chance on the SoCal weather so we started our shoot at the Travel Town museum to set up a unique backdrop for some engagement photos. After a few minutes, we got kicked out because apparently they only allow engagement photos 10 minutes of shooting. Random, but better than zero. So, we were off to our next location in Griffith Park. We took a little walk to a perfectly lonely field and continued in the yummy late afternoon light. Already being happy with our 10 minutes at the train depot, the great light in our field and the fact that Christina’s laugh can light up a room, I thought these engagement photos were already perfect. Yet there was another silver lining on the passing rain clouds, and it was walking right towards us. A beautiful horse. Remember we are in a perfectly lonely field, with a bride-to-be that takes endlessly beautiful pictures and now we have a horse owner handing over the reins for our impromptu horse/field/couple shoot.
The day was so great we decided to hop over the hill to the Griffith Observatory to catch the last of the light, and it was one of those remarkable – just after the storm – sunsets. Couldn’t ask for anything more….

Engagement Photography – Bridgeport Valencia

We met Kyle and Aubree for engagement pictures at maybe the most lush place in Valencia. Bridgeport is this amazing oasis with a man-made lake surrounded by homes. There is a great little dining and shopping area and then of course the light house and beautifully manicured grounds. If you are out in Valencia you have to stop by Bridgeport. It was a charming little spot in the middle of the desert! We had a great time and love that Aubree loves to laugh! We can’t wait for their wedding in just 2 weeks which will be on a ranch in Santa Clarita!

Engagement Photography – Santa Barbara

Check out these pictures from our weekend trip to Santa Barbara. For us it was a perfect weekend because Marc and I got to ride bikes along the boardwalk, read on the beach and enjoy a super fun engagement shoot with Aaron and Bernice all throughout downtown Santa Barbara! Found lots of color and fun places to photograph. By the end of the photoshoot, these two were workin’ it and people walking by were wondering if they were celebrities!
I had so much fun photographing these two because not only are they fun to hang out with, but we got to shoot in picturesque Santa Barbara! Enjoy!

Engagement Photography – Malibu

So happy for this wonderful couple! We got to spend a great evening at El Matador beach in Malibu with these guys and we had a such a fun time. They will be moving back to the east coast, so we had to get some engagement shots on the California beach before they leave! I prefer beach photography where there are rocks and interesting backdrops besides just water and sand. El Matador offers both, so its a good option for beach photography.
